Dimitris Trakas is an artist and a software engineer. He lives and works in Athens, Greece.

Currently he is member and co-founder of ViRA team whose main focus is on virtual reality, interactive 3D and hybrid artistic applications, performances and installations. ViRA combines artistic creativity with strong technical skills to produce experiences which are at the same time aesthetically appealing and functionally comprehensive and effective. 

He is also attending the master programme "Art, virtual reality and multiuser systems of artistic expression" of the Athens School of Fine Arts/Paris8. He is an Athens School of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) graduate (BA), having attended additional art courses in a number of institutions and studios in the past. Also holds a BSc in Computer Information Systems and a MSc in Knowledge Based Systems.

Mainly interested in painting and digital interactive virtual worlds.

Past professional experience includes 15 years in the IT/Telecommunications sector and activities as a freelance web designer.
